Bittersweet Progress

With the begrudging acceptance of the VA, our veterans are beginning to receive the posthumous respect and honor awarded to their paths in accordance with their final wishes.

May the Ancient Ones walk with this one in the Summerland, and may his spirit know the peace of the afterlife as he awaits rebirth.

And it's a sign that our Constitution may survive after all?

It's a sign that people are pushing the issue of religious freedom and respect, and are fighting against theocentric ideas about what is valid or proper or "approved of" as a belief system.

well, Kmuzu, I don't know if congrats is the right word. While it forces a large agency to acknowledge we exist, I think the ultimate goal should be to have the VA completely eliminate any such list of 'approved' symbols at all. It's ridiculous that anyone disallow a particular expression of one's beliefs simply because they do not agree. After all, no one questioned these soldiers' religious practices BEFORE they were sent off to kill and be killed...

anyhow, thanks for stopping by!
